Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Dr. Ali Ahmad described the emergence of Dr. Bukola Saraki as the nation’s senate president liberation of the National Assembly and respect for sanctity of the constitution.
Ahmad in a statement by his media aide, Alhaji Abdul-Rahman Sanni said “with the unanimous decision of the 108 Senators to pick Senator Bukola Saraki as their leader, they have demonstrated maturity and patriotic zeal to deepen the country’s democracy by ensuring the independence of the first arm of government.”
He however expressed confidence that the National Assembly under the leadership of Saraki would serve as the voice of Nigerians, check and balance, and stabilise the nation’s polity, stressing that the senators had demonstrated that the nation’s constitution supersedes any other primordial and parochial sentiment.
The Speaker explained with delight that the visionary leadership quality of Senator Saraki and his pedigree in politics would help in moving the National Assembly forward.
The Speaker further praised the 108 Senators, Nigerians, the government and people of Kwara State for their support and assured that the new senate president would justify the confidence reposed in him by Nigerians.
He therefore eulogised President Muhammadu Buhari for allowing the National Assembly to choose its leadership without any interference, pointing out that the emergence was the beginning of the numerous positive changes being anticipated by Nigerians.
