Senator Theodore Orji, representing Abia Central senatorial District and immediate past governor of Abia state, has denied allegations of eyeing the presidential position.

Orji made it known while speaking with Newsen in Umuahia, says campaign poster flooding around for the post of the president on the platform of the PDP is the handiwork of mischief makers

Orji insisted that he had never thought of contesting for the highest office in the land, having at the back of his mind that his election into the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria was for a tenure of four years and that he was yet to conclude the tenure.

He who recounted his journey so far in the Senate, said that he had discharged his legislative duties without little or problem, adding that even though it was his first tenure,  his achievements are already the talk of the town.

The former governor said that he never spoke with anyone of nursing a Presidential ambition and that if he had such an ambition, he would clearly had indicated such interest by consulting widely and not seek to use a decoy or the Facebook.

Orji said, “I don’t know anything about my posters alleging that I am nursing a Presidential ambition.  If I want to be President of a great nation like Nigeria, is it Facebook that I will employ for it?  How many people all over the world have won election via Facebook? I see this clearly as the handiwork of mischief makers who are bereft of any other thing to say about me”.

“Not too long ago they came out with a lie that I was scheming to jettison my political party,  PDP and join another party. My supporters besieged my phone, home and constituency office demanding to know the truth and I assured them that there was nothing to the story and that it was one of those rumors from the pit of hell.  Now they have come up with Presidential ambition by flooding facebook with my photograph”.

“I want to state categorically that I know nothing about it and I have not hired anyone to do so on my behalf. I am a deeply contented man and therefore I am happy with the position God has given me through the people of Abia Central senatorial District. I still have well over a year to represent them”.

The Chairman Senate Committee on Agriculture said whenever he desires another office, he would return to his constituents to inform them,  adding that in 2014, it was the men and women of Abia Central senatorial District that purchased his nomination form to run for the Senate and that it would be a disservice to put them behind.

Orji called on politicians and their cronies to desist from disparaging other politicians either because they fear his achievements or because they want to cause trouble in his constituency, insisting that democracy should be played with dignity and forthrightness.

It could be recalled that since last week, the posters of Senator Theodore Orji had been awash on Facebook alleging that he had Presidential ambition.
