In his effort to improve the standard of education, senator representing Bauchi South senatorial district and chairman, Senate Committee on Poverty Alleviation and Social Welfare, Senator Ali Wakili has donated science laboratory equipment worth N63million to 21 secondary schools in Bauchi State.
Speaking during the official flagging off atthe weekend at Zull Community Day Secondary School in Toro Local Government Council of the state, Senator Wakili said the distribution of the science laboratory equipment to the schools was part of his personal contributions towards improving education in the state.
He said that the science laboratory equipment were for general use for science courses in secondary schools, including Chemistry, Physics and Biology.
He said three schools were selected from each of the seven local governments under his district, saying the equipment were not part of his constituency projects but from his own personal pocket.
“I have passionate love for education and without education nothing could be achieved in a given society and children are the bedrock of every society that is why I want to empower them and prepare them for better future. This is also part of my campaign promised I made to the people and I delivered it today,” he said
Receiving the equipment, principal of Community Day Secondary School, Zull, Mr. Sabo Arewa Ribina said the equipment were the most needed facilities in the schools, as the school was preparing to write its first West African Examination Council, WAEC, examinations.
“We lack laboratory equipment despite the fact that we were to sit for our first WAEC examination, the donation came at the right time we needed it most. We appreciate our representatives he has proven to us his competence and we do not make mistake for voting him.”
Speaking on behalf of students, head boy and head girl of the school, Abubakar Samaila and Esther Boko appealed to the state government to supply schools in the state with chairs, desks and other learning materials so as to provide them with better learning environment.
