Senator representing Bauchi South senatorial district, Senator Ali Wakili has applauded the Federal Government for introducing 500,000 teaching vacancy in the country.
Senator Wakili made the remark yesterday while donating cartons of herbicides and sprayers to rice and maize farmers randomly selected from the seven local governments of Bauchi, Dass, Tafawa Balewa, Bogoro, Toro, Alkaleri and Kirfi of his constituency
He charged the teeming unemployed graduates, especially those from the northern part of the country not to be too ambitious but to apply for the 500, 000 teaching jobs that would soon be provided by the federal government.
He said although the teachers would be paid token amount of N23, 000 each monthly, the job would go a long way in mitigating graduates’ unemployment, redundancy and acquaint the youths with civil service experience such that they could be productive in their future careers.
“ The federal government has also earmarked the sum of N500 billion for poverty alleviation programmes that targets the youths and market women, hence the need for citizens in the state to form cooperative societies and open bank accounts in order to benefit from the gesture” he said.
Senator Wakili explained that the items donated include 40 cartons of herbicides and 20 sprayers to Bauchi Muslims and Christians cemeteries, while the association of rice farmers and that of maize farmers in each local government were given10 cartons of herbicides and 10 sprayers respectively.
He called on the beneficiaries to use the items provided judiciously and to continue praying for the success of the present administration.
