Nollywood startsfrom the Benue South senatorial district have declared their support for the former Senate president, Senator David Mark, ahead of the senatorial re-run election slated for February 20, 2016.
Addressing newsmen in Makurdi, the state capital, yesterday, the interim head of the group and chairman of the Moro Crusaders, Linda John said the decision of the group to support Senator Mark was in the collective interest of the Idomas and Benue State in general.
Linda further stated that any discerning mind from the Benue South zone had no choice but to key into the project to return Senator Mark back to the Senate to demonstrate gratitude for his unquantifiable contributions to the development of the district.
She noted that anything to the contrary would amount to an affront on the collective aspiration of the people ofIdoma land and cautioned against external interference in election.
Linda further stated that: “We have all resolved that we will all go and queue behind the Senator Mark at the coming rerun election because that is the only way we can say thank you to a man whose sterling leadership qualities have given our people a voice in the country.
“Our people cannot also afford to turn their backs on him because it is also to his credit that our young men and women were availed opportunities to excel at all spheres of life.
“For us it is payback time for a man who willingly agreed to bear our pains and burden, even as he also ensured that several development projects were sited in the Benue South district so that the dividends of democracy would not elude our people.
“As a group, we have taken it upon ourselves to lead the campaign for Senator Mark’s reelection because whether we like it or not he remains the political leader of Idoma land and we owe him a duty to rally support him.”
