Super Eagles striker, Shola Ameobi have joined League One side, Fleetwood Town until the end of the season after leaving Bolton Wanderers with just 8 appearance.

Fleetwood Manager Steven Pressley revealed that he is delighted to have the former Premier League frontman on board.

He said: “In January we signed a number of younger players and it was vital to the group that we brought in a player with experience.

“We certainly couldn’t get any more experience than Shola Ameobi and we are absolutely delighted with that. He is not only a very good player; he is a terrific character that can bring a lot to the group.”

However it is unclear if Ameobi will be fielded in Saturday’s game against Portvale.

Fleetwood Town currently occupies 21st position in the English Football League One table and needs the Zaria-born striker’s experience for survival.
