GovErnorship aspirant in Ekiti State, from the All Progressives Congress, APC, Chief Dele Okeya, has condemned maladministration of Governor Ayodele Fayose, calling on the APC to flush him out in the next governorship poll in the state in 2018. Chief Okeya, who noted that Governor Fayose, whose action has not portrayed Ekiti State in good light, said Fayose would be defeated in 2018 and he would be a refugee in another land. The governorship aspirant who is a former commissioner for works in Ekiti State, made the remarks at the APC Secretariat in Ajilosun in Ado-Ekiti, weekend, while presenting his letter
of intent to the leadership of the APC in the state. According to him, he has brought his “letter of intent to the party to contest the governorship election in 2018 under the All Progressives Party, APC”. Okeya appealled to the leaders of the party to come together to build a strong, solid and united party so as to win the2018 governorship election. According to him, if giving the opportunity to lead the state, he would focus on youth employment, education, health, agriculture and rural development among others, urging the political class to stop giving “okada” to graduates as empowerment programmes. He said youths in the country are supposed to be provided with live skills that would develop them for their future so that they can create jobs for themselves without waiting for government to do all for them. The seasoned politician noted that under APC government in Ekiti, there would be decent and genuine state House of Assembly which would not be rubber stamp being ruled by the governor of the state and the Speaker is a “clapping speaker,” but a house that would promote checks and balances in a democracy. Chief Okeya promised to promote qualitative education for the children in public schools and teachers’ welfare will be given priority for the betterment of the sector which has been neglected. Receiving the aspirant with other executives of the APC, the deputy chairman of the party, Chief Mrs. Kemisola Olaleye, said the party was prepared to win the next governorship election in Ekiti State come 2018, condemning the leadership styles of Governor Ayodele Fayose. She said the APC leadership stands for Ekiti agenda, meaning that they are ready to rule the state after the 2018 election. Mrs. Olaleye, however urged party members and owners of social media under the party to shun hate speeches and promote messages that would give victory to the party. According to her, 18 aspirants have indicated their intention to contest the governorship under the party, urging Chief Okeya, to feel free to go to all wards in the state to seek for votes.
