Samson Siasia, Dream Team head coach was understandably disappointed after his wards were forced to a three-all draw against Wikki Tourists FC last weekend.
Siasia told Nigerian Pilot Sports in Bauchi that his boys lost concentration and allowed the Premier league club side to level scores after taking the lead in the early minutes, saying he will work on the defense to fortify the team ahead of their cracker.
Siasia commended the people of Bauchi State and the state Governor for hosting the team particularly for coming to the stadium to watch the match which boosts the moral of the two teams.
The U-23 National Team friendly against Wikki was in continuation of the build up for the National Team Olympic Games qualifier against Congo next month.
The match was watched by hundreds of football fans including the state Governor, Muhammad Abdullahi Abubakar Esq saw the Siasia boys opening scoring 10minutes into the game through Austine Oladapo’s header while Junior Ajayi made it two in the 26minutes of play.
Alaba Johnson of Wikki Tourists scored a brace in the 30minutes and 43 minutes of the match before Ejor Daniel made it three for the visiting U-23 National Team in the 44minutes with a powerful shot outside the 18 yard box that caught Wikki’s keeper unaware.
On resumption, both teams made a number of substitutions to fortify the attack and Wikki Tourists werelucky to level scores just four minutes into the second half through Hamza wearing jersey number 19.
Also speaking, Wikki Technical Manager, Abdu Maikaba said he is impressed with the performance of his boys despite the fact he fielded team B side, considering that the regular players have a premier league match with Sharks FC of Port Harcourt in Gombe the following day.
Coach Maikaba explained that he was able to identify about five players from the B side that can compete in the first eleven of his team and advise the Technical team of the U-23 team to fortify their defense to make it difficult for any team to penetrate.
