A minor smoke incident at the “E” arrival wing of the International terminal of the Murtala Muhammed l Airport, Lagos at about 1.13pm yesterday created panic among passengers and other airport users.
The smoke was quickly traced to some offices at the E wing on the ground floor of the terminal by a combined team of FAAN’s electrical engineers and fire officers.
The general manager, corporate communications, Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria FAAN, Mr. Yakubu Dati disclosed that investigations have commenced to ascertain the cause of the fire.
“The Authority wishes to assure the traveling public and other airport users that there was no immediate danger to anyone as a result of the incident neither did it affect flight operations at the terminal”, he said.
The growing rate of smoke incidence at the airport is becoming worrisome, last year October there was also panic at the departures hall of the International terminal of the Murtala Muhammed International airport as a short circuit panel ignited smoke at the departures hall of the airport.
