As the gubernatorial and state assembly elections were about to be concluded in most centers across Bauchi state, cases of snatching of ballot boxes were recorded in some centers after the announcement of results.
Similarly, a serving councilor in Bogoro local government was reported killed by some hoodlums during the Saturday’s election after he had altercations with them.
Nigerian Pilot gathered that the serving councilor representing Gizaki/Badagari ward in Bogor local government area Mr. Musa Daniel was beating by some angry youths to death as revealed by chairperson of the local government, Hassana Arkila on Saturday.
Cases of ballot box snatching were recorded in some parts of Bauchi state as some youths riding on motorcycle stormed such polling units and whisked away all electoral materials.
Such cases were said to have been recorded in GRA Bauchi club polling unit, Shakal primary school all in Bauchi local government area as well as Katagum and Darazo local government areas respectively.
A voter who spoke on condition of anonymity said the thugs who attacked the Bauchi club polling unit in Bauchi came in about 10 motorcycles, carrying dangerous weapons destroying everywhere and people ran away for safety before they carted away the electoral materials.
When contacted on the snatching of ballot boxes, the PPRO, DSP Haruna Muhammad confirmed the incidence, saying they have arrested some people in connection with the incident but declined to make further comment but however said details would be provided after investigation.
