Sokoto State governor, Alhaji Aliyu Wamakko has inaugurated the Bachaka Rural Electrification Project in Gudu Local Government Area, which cost the state government over N 586 million.
The News Agency of Nigeria, NAN reports that Wamakko said the project would go a long way in enhancing socio-economic and political growth of the people..
He said the project would ensure power supply to Balle, Bangi, Karfe Sarkin, Karfen Chana, Gwazanga and Bachaka areas of Gudu Local Government Area.
He explained that the project would also prevent the people from migrating to the cities in search of menial jobs.
Wamakko called on the benefitting communities to protect government property against vandalism.
The governor said that the state government had already concluded arrangements to award contract for the Gudu to Bachaka road project.
He said the project was aimed at enhancing socio-economic and political growth of the people in the area.
He commended the people of the state for coming out en mass during the just -concluded general elections to elect candidates of their choice.
The present and incoming administrations would continue to initiate policies and programmes that would enhance the wellbeing of the people, irrespective of political party differences, he said.
Wamakko urged the people to be security conscious by reporting suspected characters to the nearest security agency for prompt action.
Earlier, Alhaji Abdullahi Maigwandu, the Commissioner for Rural Development, had commended the state government for releasing funds to the contractor that handled the project.
He said that the project would go a long way in enhancing the socio-economic and political growth of the area.
