Kaduna State Governor, Malam Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai has deplored the murder of citizens in Gida Biyu, Akwa’a and Angwan Anjo communities in Jema’a local government area of the state.
In a statement issued by Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to Governor El-Rufai, Samuel Aruwan, El-Rufai condemned the attacks, and expressed his condolence to the families of the victims.
The statement also disclosed that a detachment of soldiers and police have been drafted to the communities.
According to the statement, “the Kaduna State Government condemns the murders that were perpetrated by criminal elements that attacked our communities in Gida Biyu, Akwa’a and Angwan Anjo in Jema’a Local Government Area. The Governor, Malam Nasir El-Rufai, extends his condolence to the survivors and the families of the victims.
“The government has directed relevant officials to take over the treatment of all those who were wounded. The State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) is also mobilizing relief materials to the affected communities and persons, and will be taking an inventory of damage in the affected communities.
“The government commended security agencies for their prompt response in repelling the attackers, but it urges that active steps be taken to improve intelligence gathering so as to deter attacks and prevent any outbreak of violence in any of our communities.
“In this sad moment, the government requests that all residents of the state demonstrate solidarity, share each other’s pains and deny the attackers the pleasure of triggering division and acrimony, in addition to the vile murders they have committed.” he said.
Earlier, the Southern Kaduna People Union, SOKAPU in the face of killings in the area kicked against Governor El-Rufai’s plan to build grazing reserve across communities in Southern Kaduna.
SOKAPU National Youth Leader, Comrade Nasiru Jagaba while addressing a press conference on development in Southern Kaduna yesterday, said the grazing reserve is an attempt to cohabitate it with the same strange and volatile Fulani who it alleged has been attacking it communities.
According to him, “Recently, El-Rufai announced his intention to build grazing reserves across communities in Southern Kaduna. By so doing, he wants to cohabitate us with the same strange and volatile Fulani that have been attacking defenceless communities in Southern Kaduna. Since the Fulani started their barbaric activities somewhere around 2010, they have burnt down over 500 houses and killed over 4000 lives mostly women and children.
“As we were preparing for this press briefing, we received a distress call that suspected Fulani militia have attacked Nintie and Hayin Gada communities in Jema’a Local Government of Kaduna State killing scores with many sustaining various injuries,” Jagaba however stated.
