EKITI State governor, Mr. Ayodele Fayose has described the leadership of the Alhaji Ali Modu Sheriff control Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, as “political kidnappers” in the party. Fayose made the remark in his welcome address at the meeting of the South-West leaders of the PDP at the Government House in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State capital, yesterday. The governor said the “kidnappers” in the PDP had taken over what does not belong to them, saying the evils done to them would not stand. Fayose also condemned former President Olusegun Obasanjo, urging him to please return his N10 million that they were made to pay in 2005, adding that those oppressing the PDP would have seat would be vacant. At the end of the meeting attended by leaders of the Alhaji Ahmed Makarfi-led National Caretaker Committee, the members in a communiqué passed a vote of confidence and support for the Senator Makarfi-led Caretaker Committee. “The leadership appreciated the doggedness of members of the PDP in the South-West in the face of harassment and intimidation and we implore them not to lose hope as there is light at the end of the tunnel. The PDP leaders and members in the South-West support the decision of the National Caretaker Committee led by Senator Ahmed Makarfi to challenge Senator Alli Modu Sheirff’s claims to the leadership of the party at the Supreme Court. We are sure that justice will prevail in the end. “The leaders of the PDP in the South-West repose confidence on the leadership of His Excellency, Dr Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State as the leader of the party in the South-West as well as the Chairman, PDP Governors’ Forum in Nigeria. “The South-West leaders hereby recognise and pass vote of confidence on the SouthWest zonal executive under the leadership of Dr Eddy Olafeso. “South-West PDP under the leadership of Governor Ayodele Fayose will continue to pursue the ideal of peace and harmony in the South-West and the entire nation in full consultation with our leaders and members,” the communiqué read. Those present at the gathering included Prince Dayo Adeyeye, spokesperson of the Makarfi group, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, Sen. Eyiola Omisore, Mrs. Kofoworola Buknor-Akerele and Mr. Eyitayo Jegede. Others are Chief Olabode George, Dr. Saka Balogun, Mr. Ebenezer Babatope and all state chairmen of the group in Ekiti, Osun, Ondo, Lagos, Oyo and Ogun, attended the meeting.
