The factional Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly Hon Evans Bapakaye Bipi, has urged the outgoing governor, Hon Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi and the All Progressives Congress APC, to accept defeat and congratulate the governor elect, Chief Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, People’s Democratic Party, PDP and their candidates on their victory in the just concluded governorship and House of Assembly elections.
Bipi advised the governor and his APC, to be courageous enough to accept defeat just as the President, Dr Goodluck Ebele Jonathan did, and spare himself, his party and the state the problem of legal tussle because, according to him, “the state has spoken”.
He issued the advice to the governor yesterday in Ogu, Ogu/Bolo Local Government Area LGA of the state, during a victory party organised by the LGA chapter of the PDP, and also congratulated the President elect, General Muhammadu Buhari on his victory at the presidential election, appealing to him not to meddle into the Rivers election but to allow the peace the outgoing President had engendered in the country to remain.
“We believe the man Buhari has enough integrity to respect the rule of law and the will of the people as we are strongly convinced, he will not tamper with the verdict or collective will of the people of Rivers state,” he assured.
