CHAIRMAN NATIONAL caretaker committee of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Senator Ahmed Makarfi, has said it was unpatriotic for any Nigerian to politicise the current economic challenges facing the country but blasted the ruling All Progressive Congress, APC, accusing them of being part of the woes.
He said the state of the nation was worrisome as the country was undergoing critical times and fingered the APC as part of those responsible for the mess. “Don’t blame the PDP. Those who blame us where with us 16 years ago, so they should blame themselves” he emphasised. Sen. Makarfi who spoke on a Channels Television current affairs programme, Sun Rise Daily monitored in Abuja, explained that the bulk of those who are current
APC governors, Senators, House of Representatives members as well as politicians in the states assemblies and local government councils were PDP members in the last 16 years, who were also part and parcel of the mess. “APC is part of the mess in the country,” he reiterated, adding that it was easier to point fingers of corruption at those not in government. According to him the ruling party will also make mistakes, time will tell, insisting nevertheless
that in its 16 years of governance, the PDP did not mastermind the decay in the country as it also recorded successes. He, however, warned that the country was in a critical time and as such all hands must be on deck to salvage the situation rather than politicise the current state of the nation, “Nigerians are suffering, we’re in a critical time, let’s come together to bring succor to the people. Let’s not politicise issues,” he further appealed.
