Subsidy Reinvestment and Empowerment Programme, SURE-P, in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Abuja has trained over 600 youths drawn from the 6 Area Councils of the FCT to develop their entrepreneurial skills.
Project Manager of FCT SURE-P, Mr. David Gende, while addressing the youths at a brief orientation in Abuja recently, said that the idea of the programme was to give the youths the knowledge to be successful in their various vocational skills.
“These youths have undergone vocational and technical training before now, but we noticed that some of them still don’t know how to go about setting up businesses of their own,” he said.
He called on the beneficiaries of the programme to take advantage of the training to acquire more knowledge that would make them more productive in their various entrepreneurial skills, warning that no institution will invest in unserious entrepreneur.
One of the resource persons, Mr. Biodun Omidiji who spoke on the basic rudiments of managing a successful business warned participants not to expect huge capital before embarking on a vocational outfit but start with the little they have and grow thereafter.
The training was aimed at developing the entrepreneurial skills of those youths who have been trained in various vocational skills in the nation’s capital, even as the youths were tasked to take the training seriously.
