A suspected cult member, Gbenga Sodiya has been arraigned before a Lagos Chief Magistrate’s court sitting at Ebute-Metta, on alleged killing of two people during a street fight.
The 30-year-old suspect was slammed with a three-count charge of conspiracy, murder and unlawful killing before the court, presided over by Magistrate O.O.A. Fowowe-Erusiafe.
The Prosecutor, Inspector G. Agoi, informed the court that the accused committed the offences with others now at large on February 14, 2015, about 9.30 pm at Itire Road Junction, Mushin.
The prosecutor further informed the court that the accused had killed one Femi Egbekunle and Saliu Maja by shooting them on the chest and mouth.
Inspector Agoi further informed the court that the accused and others left their base at Idi-Araba in Mushin and went to Pako junction also at Mushin and started shooting sporadically in which process the two deceased were killed.
He told the court that the offences were contrary to and punishable under sections 409, 221 and 231 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
The accused’s plea was not taken.
The presiding magistrate, Fowowe-Erusiafe (Mrs.), ordered that the accused be remanded at the Ikoyi Prisons for 30 days pending advice from the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP).
She also ordered that the duplicate of the case file be forwarded to the DPP for legal advice.
The matter has been adjourned till September 9.
