The Conference of Minority Tribes in Nigeria has described recent suspension of the Executive Secretary/Director General of the Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD), Mrs. Nellie Mayshak as a setback in the successes already recorded in cleaning the corruption that hitherto rocked the system before her appointment.
The group said since her appointment, Mayshak has restored pensioners’ confidence and introduced measures to ensure transparency in the manners pensioners funds are handled.
President of the group Umar Salifu in a statement made available to journalists said the numerous commendations she has received from pensioners is an attestation to how she has restored confidence to pension management in the country.
He said, “we have seen the different measures introduced to ensure what happened in the past didn’t repeat itself. But we are not surprised that the cabal are fighting back by instigating the minister against the DG.
“The fact that pensioners are backing her shows that they have confidence in her.”
He said the ongoing verification exercise of pensioners will ensure accurate data on pensioners that will help eliminate the incidence of ghost pensioners and duplications. He said the database will also allow seamless update and linking of pensioners Next -Of -Kin’s, supports the prompt payment of benefits, as well as speed up complaints resolution.
He said realizing that the ongoing verification exercise will finally restore transparency, the cabal decided fight back.
Reacting to allegations that the DG earned between N50-60 million monthly as salaries, Salifu said such allegation is not only false but mischievous.
He said it is impossible because her salary is subject to approval by the the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission which, among other things, advises the Federal and State Governments on national income policy.
He said it is a known fact within the directorate that Mayshak has zero tolerance for corruption, stressing that the latest campaign has been a deliberate plot against the DG by those who couldn’t have the opportunity to dip their hands into pensioners funds because she had blocked all the loopholes.
Salifu also absolved the suspended Executive Secretary/Director General of The Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD), Mrs. Nellie Mayshak of any financial mismanagement as being reported in some section of the media.
Quoting from a PTAD fact sheet document, he said since November 2013 when the pension payrolls of the old pension offices were handed over to PTAD, it has not had a single case of fraud and have never failed to make a monthly payment (subject to budgetary approvals)

ALL NONSENSE, I AM A PENSIONER, SHE NEVER RESTORED MY CONFIDENCE BY NOT RESPONDING TO MY SEVERAL LETTERS TO HER ON THE NON-PAYMENT OF MY HARMONIZED PENSION ARREARS. UNDER THE CIRCUMSTANCE, I DO NOT CONSIDER HER A RESPONSIBLE PERSON WORKING FOR THE WELFARE OF THE PENSIONERS. SHE IS JUST A SELF-PRAISING CUCKOO-LAND DIRECTOR
UNDER WHOSE DIRECTIONS SEVERAL PENSION FRAUDS HAVE BEEN COMMITTED. THE BUCK OF RESPONSIBILITY MUST STOP AT HER. SHE DEFINITELY HAS A CASE TO ANSWER. EFCC WILL SOON FIND HER OUT.
