Immediate past governor of Benue State, Gabriel Suswam has filed a suit at the State High Court, seeking an order of the court to restrain his successor, Samuel Ortom from probing his (Suswam’s) administration.
Nigerian Pilot learnt that the about 10 motions supported by affidavit was filed last Monday by the counsel to the former governor, Dave Iorhemba.
A top official at the High Court who spoke on condition of anonymity attested to the receipt of the writ, adding that the matter was yet to be assigned.
He said, “we have actually received the motion filed by lawyers to former Governor Gabriel Suswam seeking the High Court to issue an order stopping the probe of his administration by the present government in the state.
“Though the file has been presented to the Chief Judge for the purpose of assigning the case to a judge, we are yet to receive any correspondence from the office of the Chief Judge.
“We expect that after assigning the case to a presiding judge, he will then fix a date for hearing and the parties will be informed accordingly,” the official said.
