Following demands for purposeful services, the Nigeria Postal Service has improved on its services such as cargo haulage, express letter acceptance and registration, speed post, and special delivery services.
In a ceremony in Jalingo to mark the world post day, the Area Post Master, PA Ijira said the organisation has designed innovative services to serve the Nigerian populace.
The NIPOST, Ijara maintained has metamorphosed from mere posting of letters to providing other services in line with popular demands “NIPOST provides postal services that are more than ever before, reliable, affordable, efficient, effective, and universal both in scope and accessibility.”
The occasion also witnessed the presentation of awards to customer loyalty and patronage to the Nigerian Television Authority NTA among others that merited it.
Ijara explained that the system of awarding loyal customers was a deliberate attempt, which he informed, aimed at of appreciating the customers who have kept faith with the service over the years by consistent patronage, noting that the awardees were also seen as ambassadors of the service in their respective areas.
Speaking on the topic, “Imperatives of an efficient postal service as a business facilitator,” the guest Speaker, Umar Bambur noted that the World Post Day is set aside to commemorate the achievements, prospects, challenges and the way forward for the postal service in the world and called for a sober reflection with a view to repositioning the service for revenue generation especially in the face of dwindling national resources.
While appreciating the NIPOST, the General Manager, NTA Jalingo Alhaji Muhammad Umar Garkowa expressed happiness for considering NTA for the award and pledged that the NTA would continue to partner with the NIPOST in the area of sensitisation and creation of awareness.
