Confusion has enveloped a rural community, Eziagulu Out as gunmen from Kogi state invaded the community abducting three children in the process.
The three children were swimming inside Ibu River when their abductors struck. They are said to be between the ages of 10 and 12 and are still declared missing, according to community elders.
Commenting on the crisis, Mr. Alex Nnoruka, a youth leader from Eziagulu-Otu community in Anambra said that the gunmen are from Asonwa community in Kogi State which shares boundary with Eziagulu-Otu.
He said that the armed men had on many occasions invaded Eziagulu-Otu and Ibu camp in same community for five days now.
“Our councilor, Hon. Cyril Chukwuemeka Nnaekwe, together with the President General of Eziagulu Out, Mr. Alex Onukwo had since reported the matter but to the best of my knowledge we are still expecting police to wade in.”
But, the traditional ruler of the community, Igwe Peter Anielutu not only confirmed the story but accused the Kogi community Asonwa of regularly attacking his community for no reason and called on the federal government and state government to come to their aid.
“In fact we and Asonwa community for long have been living side by side peacefully for years, but all of a sudden, since the discovery of this oil in our land, I suspect some Abuja based politicians from Kogi state have made it a point of duty to be fueling crisis between us and I believe God will judge them for all innocent blood that are being shed over this matter for no reason,” the Igwe lamented.
