Nigeria Youth Organisation, NYO, is to confer a Corporate Leadership Award of Excellence on the Executive Secretary of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund, TETFund, Professor Suleiman Bogoro, in recognition of his achievements.
In a communiqué made available to Nigerian Pilot, the group said the giant strides and positive impact of his administration on youth development, particularly at a time when there were plans to withhold the cash flight associated with tertiary education, with its adverse effect on Nigerian youths, but today, we are direct beneficiaries of the advancements being made to develop basic infrastructure in tertiary schools.
With meticulous management of resources, Prof. Bogoro, as a refined intellectual and consummate educationist, has made giant strides to accelerate TETFund’s investments in manpower development and capacity building which are rapidly yielding results.
The NYO at its extraordinary North Eastern Zonal Leadership meeting, stated in a communiqué, signed by its National Vice President, Abdullahi Barau, that the research and development section of the NYO, after a fact-finding exploration and peer review mechanism of universities, polytechnics and specialised colleges in the various geo-political zones of Nigeria and Abuja, observed that the rate of infrastructural development under Bogoro’s administration is unparalleled.
“We, in the NYO, after analysing our observations, are strongly of the opinion that Bogoro’s leadership should be supported with more funding in order to ensure that TETFund maintains its frontline role of making education more flexible and affordable because it will be disheartening for TETFund to be decelerated in its operational works of ensuring that Nigeria becomes a knowledge-based economy.’’
The NYO believes that the sustenance of TETFund’s current leadership would mitigate the brain drain syndrome, whereby Nigerian students and scholars migrate abroad.
NYO urged Professor Bogoro to expend his wealth of cognate experience and ebullient management style to bear on the ongoing change agenda of President Muhammadu Buhari’s sincere and visionary leadership.
According to the group, “it is noteworthy that Professor Bogoro, having learned the ropes as a seasoned administrator, has demonstrated, since assumption of office, to be an adept manager of men and resources and marked with fiscal discipline.’’
The NYO also expressed support for President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration for building an atmosphere of true peace in Nigeria through the ongoing successful war over the Boko Baram insurgency in the North-East.
