Former Lagos State Governor and national Leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu, and the pioneer National Chairman of the party, Chief Bisi Akande on Sunday in Ibadan, Oyo State capital, extolled the virtues of the late Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Samuel Odulana Odugade 1.
The duo described the late monarch as a disciplined, forthright centenarian with sound sense of judgment on issues.
Both Asiwaju Tinubu and Chief Bisi Akande were accompanied by the Oyo state governor, Abiola Ajimobi, the state Chairman of APC, Chief Akin Oke and Tayo Akinyelure to the Monatan palace of the late monarch who passed on at 101 on January 19.
The entourage was received by the Odulana family, led by their leader, Professor Allan Femi Odulana and the widow, Olori Moriyike Lana, as well as the Olubadan-in-Council led by the Otun Olubadan of Ibadan, High Chief Lekan Balogun.
Asiwaju Tinubu seized the opportunity to laud Senator Ajimobi for breaking the jinx of second term in Oyo, commending the late Oba for the support which made the feat possible.
The APC chieftain said that, unlike some Obas in the country who are known for unsavoury behaviour, the late Olubadan was forthright, downright and sound in his judgment, reason his entourage considered it imperative to pay the condolence visit.
According to him; “Baba did not put us to shame. He was honest and forthright. He was downright in his judgment on issues. Because our governor, Ajimobi changed the face of Oyo from dirtiness to cleanliness, our Baba conferred him with the title of “Atunluse of Ibadanland.”.This development has prevented the spread of Lassa fever in the state. Baba left the state in progress. I pray the progress is not retarded”, he prayed.
Also, Chief Bisi Akande extolled the virtues of the late Olubadan, describing him as an astute politician, parliamentarian, whose reign was peaceful and the state was cleaner.
Chief Akande described him as ‘Our Dictionary’, saying “Baba was our dictionary whom we were consulting always. We pray that God should provide us another dictionary”.
While responding on behalf of the Olubadan-in-Council, High Chief Lekan Balogun thanked Asaaju and his supporters for the gesture of commiserating with the late Oba’s family.
The head of the family, Professor Femi was full of appreciation for the visitors, saying that the late Oba was father to all and that his celebration would be done by all.
He called for prayer for the widow of the late Oba, saying that “Our Olori had no social life since the past 15 years. Her concentration had always been on my father”, he said.
