Caretaker executive members, Building Materials Dealers Market Tollgate, Ogbunike Oyi Local Government Council of Anambra State, led by Chief Gabriel Momegha have appealed to Governor Willie Obiano to construct the only link road to the market from the defunct tollgate axis of Enugu-Onitsha expressway.
Addressing journalists in his office, Chief Momegha said so the Anambra State government has already provided a giant transformer for efficient power supply in the market, toilet facilities and that the market is booming as there is an increase in the number of traders as a result of the recent government action in ejecting members of the market from their former abode at William Street Onitsha.
On their members who have refused to come into the market and occupy their shops, the chairman appealed to them to sheathe their swords and occupy their shops in Building Materials Market, Ogbunike, assuring that nobody will witch-hunt them.
The caretaker committee chairman on behalf of the traders lauded Governor Obiano on his achievements in the state and noted that his exceptional and result oriented leadership will develop the state.
He prayed God to grant him more fruitful years of service to humanity, stating that the entire traders will ever remain grateful to him and the Commissioner of Commerce, Ifeatu Onejeme, for their relentless effort to ensure the existence of the market.
Secretary of the Caretaker Committee, Elder David Onubogu, Mr. Clifford Ikeh, Chief Ernest Gwacham and other members of the committee appealed to traders who are still adamant to come and occupy their shops, reminding them that it is better to be a landlord than a tenant.
A former Vice Chairman of the market, Sir Silas Ikeh, KSJ, thanked Obiano and the commissioner of commerce for hearkening to the voice of the traders.
He blamed whatever happened in the past to misinformation on the part of some traders and appealed to them to come together and ensure that the market thrives, stressing that the market will have a brighter future if all of them rally round and ensures that the market is developed.
