Lagos State Environmental and Special Offences Court sitting at Ogba has ordered that the four cars, one motorcycle and a tricycle arrested by the convoy of the state Governor Akinwunmi Ambode, be forfeited to state Government.
The vehicles were arrested while driving against traffic at Ijora-Olopa on Wednesday, 16th of December, 2015.
Magistrate Mobolaji Tanimola of Magistrate Court 16, Ogba convicted the traffic offenders after they had pleaded guilty to one count charge of contravening Section 7 (b) of the Lagos State Traffic Laws of 2012.
The Magistrate pronounced the forfeiture of the vehicles and sentenced the accused to six months imprisonment or a payment of N50,000 each as an option of fine for driving against on-coming traffic which is against the traffic law.
While both Motorcyclist and Tricyclist arrested were made to forfeit their motorcycle and tricycle with the payment of N5, 000 and N30, 000 respectively as an option of fine or One month imprisonment each.
Magistrate Mobolaji said, the judgment would go a long way to serve as deterrent to other motorists who are fond of contravening the Lagos State Traffic Laws of 2012.
Those arrested and convicted included Mrs. Adejoke Elemoro, Mr. Ogunlana Olatunji, Mr. Ganiyu Ayokuleyin, Mr. Ogunade Segun, Mr. Akinlabi Ahmed and Mr. Sunday Uzebo.
