A Personal Assistant, PA, to Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura of Nasrawa state, Mr. Solomon Tabulo Pevkyaa has asserted that the landslide victory recorded by the governor in the last governorship election in the state was necessitated by the prudent and transparent style of governance adopted by his boss in running affairs of the state in the last four years.
The PA, who made the assertion in a chat with newsmen in Lafia at the weekend, maintained that the re-election of the Governor for a second term in office was well-deserved considering the tremendous achievements recorded within the last four years of his (Al-Makura) administration.
Mr. Pevkyaa, dismissed the allegation in some quarters that the declaration of his boss as winner of the last governorship election by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC in the state, was a day robbery, maintained that Al-Makura’ victory was a second mandate freely given to him by the electorates.
“The Governor recorded an overwhelming victory over his opponents. In fact, if you put the votes scored by both candidates of PDP and APGA together, those scored by the Governor would still be far above theirs”.
He regretted that the Governor was not given the needed support and cooperation by the state legislature to actualise all the good programmes he had in stock for the people of the state.
“The Governor was so much distracted by the PDP-dominated State House of Assembly but with APC forming majority in the soon-to-be inaugurated 5th Assembly, I think the sky will be the Governor’s limit in terms of execution of more people-oriented programmes”. He stressed.
He therefore urged Governor Al-Makura to concentrate more on opening up the rural communities by embarking on projects that would accelerate development at the grassroots thereby uplifting the living standard of the rural populace, just as he stressed the need for creation of employment opportunities for the teeming unemployed youths in the state.
