Governorship Election Petition tribunal sitting in Kaduna has affirmed Governor Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai’s election.
In about 6 hours Judgement, Chairman of the Tribunal, Justice A. A. Adebara dismissed the petition on the ground that it lacks merit and facts to establish non-compliance.
It would be recalled that the All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA governorship candidate at the last election, Mr Polycarp Danladi had petitioned the tribunal challenging the election that brought in El-Rufai as governor of the state.
Mr. Danladi sought the tribunal to nullify the election and order a fresh election, arguing that his name was not captured in the form EC 8A and the election was characterized by over voting and non compliance with the electoral act.
Speaking to newsmen after the judgment, Counsel to the Governor, Omokayode Adebayo Dada said if the APGA candidate is not satisfied by the judgment could go to appeal.
However, Counsel to the petitioner, Olumuyiwa Olowookore said they would study the judgment in consultation with his client to know the next line of action.
