All Progressives Congress, APC deputy governorship candidate in the just concluded Cross River guber poll, Mr. Sylvester Nsa has disagreed with the party’s governorship candidate over his decision not to challenge the results of the April 11, 2015 governorship elections in court.
The party’s governorship candidate, Mr. Odey Ochicha who congratulated Prof. Ben Ayade, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP candidate immediately he was declared winner of the governorship polls said he would not challenge the election results at the tribunal.
But his deputy, Mr. Nsa disclosed that though his principal had congratulated the PDP candidate, he would have waited for the party to take a decision on the matter.
“The party (APC) is not satisfied with the conduct of the elections. Our agents and supporters were killed, some maimed and others arrested and detained in police cells.”
He however disclosed that his party would soon make its position on the outcome of elections public, noting ‘the party will take a stand on that.’
The APC governorship candidate, Mr. Odey Ochicha however said he decided to congratulate the winner of the elections ‘in the interest of our dear state.’
“I did it not because the elections were not flawed, but in the spirit of best international practices.”
Mr. Ochicha however said he would personally not challenge the election result, but will support the party if it decides to contest the results.
