Nigerian troops fighting Boko Haram terrorists in North-East region said they have defused 4 explosive devices and cleared Damaturu-Biu Road of Boko Haram insurgents.
A statement issued yesterday by the Acting Director Army Public Relations, Col. Sani Kukasheka Usman, said the feat was achieved by a team of Nigerian Army Special Forces, Explosives Ordinance Devices with support from the Nigeria Police and the civilian JTF.
The statement said four explosives reportedly planted by the insurgents were defused in the operation.
Col. Usman boasted that with the development, the road is now safe for vehicles and commuters to use, assuring them of further security.
The Army advised the general public to be more conscious security-wise and report any suspicious persons and movements to the security agents around them, even as it assured that it was determined to bring the reign of Boko Haram to an end.
The statement reads, “The Nigerian troops have cleared Damaturu-Biu Road of mines by a team of Nigerian Army Special Forces, Explosives Ordinance Devices with support from Nigeria Police and members of local vigilante.
“During the painstaking and thorough operation, four Improvised Explosives Devices (IEDs) planted by suspected Boko Haram terrorists were discovered and successfully detonated.
“Commuters are encouraged to use the road as adequate security is being provided.
“The Nigerian Army wishes to further enjoin the public to be more security-conscious and report any suspicious persons and movements to the security agents.
