Nigerian Military troops fighting Boko Haram terrorists in North-East region have discovered a large tunnel used by Boko Haram in the dreaded Sambisa forest.
The tunnel is being used by the terrorists as hideout from military air strikes.
Nigerian Pilot Saturday gathered that the troops made the discovery while advancing towards the main camp of the Boko Haram sect in the forest.
During the encounter, the troops freed many hostages and dislodged some Boko Haram insurgents, who fled on sighting them.
Army sources claimed that the discovery is a major breakthrough for the troops as Boko Haram fighters cannot escape into towns as there were many check points at all Sambisa exits and entry routes.
The soldiers also destroyed Boko Haram flags, motorcycles, among other properties.
Elsewhere, the troops arrested another wanted Boko Haram kingpin along the Borno-Adamawa border.
Abdullahi Abubakar who is reportedly number 58 on the published list of 100 wanted Boko Haram insurgents released by the military authorities was arrested in Uba Askira area and is currently being interrogated at a military facility.
Brigade Commander of the 28 Task Force Brigade in Mubi , Brigadier General Victor Ezugwu confirmed the arrest but declined  further comment, saying the Army headquarters in Abuja should  be contacted for details.
