Troops of 4 Brigade of the Nigerian Army nicknamed “Operation CROCODILE SMILE” have raided Afiagbene community in Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State in search of suspected oil bunkerers and militants.
Acting Director Army Public Relations, Colonel Sani Kukasheka Usman confirmed that the raid was carried out last Monday with the help of Nigerian Navy helicopters, their speed and gunboats.
Col. Usman however said there was no contact made, but the troops discovered 2 Generators, 1 locally made Double barrel gun, 1 Dane gun, 3 live cartridges, 2 Pumping machines, one 32 inches LG Television, 1 Kenwood amplifier and 4 X 50 Litres of liquid suspected to be crude oil at Ayakoromo junction.
According to the Army spokesman, the troops on their Day 4 in the field training exercise, were also involved in continued humanitarian assistance through free medical outreach, show of force, patrols and raids in the creeks.
