Social critic and Commissioner, Public Complaints Commission, Alhaji Abubakar Tsav has challenged the governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom to a public debate with his predecessor, Gabriel Suswam.
Tsav, whose challenge is contained in a signed statement made available to Nigerian Pilot in Makurdi, Benue State capital at the weekend, wondered why Ortom would through his paid agents continue to denigrate Suswam in the media when he had already set up panels to investigate his administration.
But in a swift reaction, senior special assistant to Governor Ortom on Media and ICT, Terver Akase, wondered the capacity Tsav is throwing the challenge, stressing “as a spokesman for Dr. Suswam, his personal manager, coach, legal adviser or what?
However, the former Commissioner of Police urged elders in the state as well as the governor’s handlers to advise the governor on the right thing to do instead being double-edged onlookers since the people of the state are interested in what the governor has for them and not what his predecessor failed to do.
“Rather than waste his time ridiculing himself by unwarranted and provocative attack on his predecessor, why can’t he start his own programme for the benefit of the people?” Tsav wondered.
“Has former Gov Suswam become a nightmare for Gov Ortom or is it a feeling of inferiority complex, Could it be that Ortom has no confidence in his probe panels/commission and EFCC?
