Akwa United’s Aniekpeno Udoh said he had a hunch that he was going to score in last Wednesday’s Federation Cup semi final against Nasarawa United.
The forward’s first half strike ensured his team reached their first Federation Cup final after a 1-0 of their Lafia based opponents at the MKO Abiola Stadium, Abeokuta. They will battle for the top prize against Lobi Stars at the Teslim Balogun Stadium on a date yet to be fixed.
“I am not surprised I scored against Nasarawa United because I saw it coming,” Udoh told Goal.
“Before the commencement of the game, I had this feeling that I was going to score the only goal of the game and happened.
“Nasarawa United are a good side with lots of strength but we played as a team and we emerged victorious. I give kudos to my teammates for a job well done.
“We are happy reaching our first final and we will go back, prepare well and ensure the trophy is ours after the final.”
Akwa United face Lobi Stars in the final of the Federation Cup and the strike is not intimated stating they will put in their best to win the title for the first time, while stating emphatically that he would score the only goal of the game.
“It doesn’t matter who we will be facing in the final, all we will be aiming for is total victory against our opponents,” he added.
“Just like it happened [against Nasarawa United], I see myself scoring in the final again and I want to assure you that will be the only strike in the final and we will be crowed as champions,” he concluded.
Enugu Rangers saw their chance of winning a first title in 31 years denied when they lost 1-0 to Lobi Stars in the Federation Cup semis.
