Ahead of the Supreme Court’s judgement on the Akwa Ibom State Election, the Special Assistant on Grassroots Mobilisation (North) to Akwa Ibom State Governor, Honourable Emmanuel Inyang has declared that a re-run election in Akwa Ibom will be a tsunami as Governor Udom will engage the All Progressive Congress counterpart in a flawless defeat.
Honourable Inyang who also doubles as the Coordinator, Akwa Ibom Consolidation Alliance, ACA, (North) made the declaration when he paid a familiarization visit to Eket Federal Constituency to intimate them on the Governors plans for them and also report back to the Governor on their entire request.
“If Supreme Court orders for re-run election, I want to let everybody that we are ready for re-run and if they uphold the result of the election, good and fine by us. There is no need for panicking.
“I want to assure all of us that the same victory we got the other time, we will replicate it again by the Grace of God. If we are going for a re-run it’s going to be a tsunami,” he said.
He advised the people of Eket Federal Constituency to keep their Permanent Voters Card, PVC, safe and ready to defend the divine mandate which was bestowed on Udom during the April elections.
“I want to assure us that the vote that was given to our son, by God’s grace, it will not be taken away from us. Uyo senatorial district had their turn as Governor under Obong Attah as well as Ikot Ekpene senatorial district under Sen Akpabio. It is an insult for somebody to come from another senatorial district to come and collect our mandate,” he said.
Speaking on Udom’s achievement which he described as all encompassing noted that all the sectors are experiencing rapid development spanning from road construction to power sector to reviving of existing industries.
“Udom is a principled person, he is an astute banker. Since he came in, he as approved payment of all outstanding for those that were employed even before he was sworn-in. He knows what to do at the right time. In some states, there are retrenchments of staff, the other day Imo State retrenched over 3,000 workers, but in Akwa Ibom our Governor has ordered the employment of workers in some sectors that lack manpower such as the health, and Education sectors.
“You are aware that almost all the state Governors came to get bailout funds but Akwa Ibom state did not collect one naira, yet we are funding our state and paying our salaries. This shows our Governor’s high sense in managing funds and the funds is yielding profit for us.
“Our governor believes that the 13% derivation that Akwa Ibom receives, if used to revive our industries, will boast the revenue of the state thereby creating job opportunities in the state” he said.
President, Eket Federal Constituency, Barr. Gabriel Fan in response pledged the Constituency’s unalloyed support to Governor Udom to ensure that the divine mandate is sustained.
He also appealed to the Governor to use his good office to fast track the establishment of Oil Minerals producing and Development Commission, OMPADEC, which is in every other oil producing states as well as the reviving of the Qua Steel Company which would have created job opportunity for the youths in the locality.
He complained that the indigenes of Eket are suffering because of oil flaring, which is affecting the roofs in the community.
