IMMEDIATE past Governor of Delta State, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan has paid the bill for the delivery of the first quadruplets allegedly
detained in the Hospital. The father of the quadruplets, Mr. Ejike Anyanwu had gone public, soliciting for funds to
clear the bills. Mr. Anyanwu, an indigene of Enugu State, said his babies delivered on 15th May, was through cesarean operation.
The former governor Dr. Uduaghan who had given N100, 000 to the mother of the quadruplets during an earlier visit to the hospital two days to his exit from office, explained that having come across the report on the social media, he decided to render assistance.
He said: “For me, it doesn’t have to be the state governor assisting, anyone who sees it and can afford to help, should help. It is
something that I could afford and I said, why should they be there because of that kind of money?” Meanwhile, management
of the hospital has denied impounding the babies owing to the inability of the father to pay their hospital bills as
reported in some sections of the media. Describing the report as mischievous and false, Public Relations Officer, PRO of
the hospital, Mr. Emmanuel Iteme hinted that contrary to claims that the babies were impounded, the hospital has a
flexible program that enables patients pay up their bills after treatment.
