Executive governor of Enugu State, Chief Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi has called every Nigerian to rally round the families of the fallen.
Ugwuanyi, who was represented at the wreath laying ceremony at the tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Okpara Square, Enugu yesterday, by the Secretary to the State Government, Elder Gabriel Ajah, said it was important that every Nigerian support the families of the fallen heroes so that their sacrifices will not be in vain.
Gov. Ugwuanyi said the fallen heroes fought gallantly in defence of their fatherland, stressing that all and sundry should support their families in any way they can.
“I believe that everybody should rally round the families of the fallen heroes so that their sacrifices will not be in vain,” Gov. Ugwuanyi said.
He called on good spirited individuals as well as corporate organisations to appreciate the fallen heroes in the best way possible and advised the families of the fallen heroes to continue to trust in God for their sustenance.
Prominent personalities that laid wreath at the tomb of the Unknown Soldier at the occasion included the SSG, Ajah, Speaker of the Enugu State House of Assembly, Hon. Edward Ubosi.
Also, the GOC 82 Division of the Nigerian Army, Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru, Airforce Commander, Air Comdr Emmanuel Festus, Police Commissioner, Enugu State Command, Mr Nwodibo Ekechukwu, chairman of Nigerian Legion, Enugu State, Col. George Amalu, rtd as well as two widows of dead soldiers Mrs Blessing Edekia and Mrs Victoria Ogbe.
