Fourth eight hours after a group of concerned members of All Progressives Congress, APC, gave a 14-day ultimatum to the caretaker/ national convention planning committee to roll out the timetable for the conduct of the national convention slated for December or face nationwide protests, Chairmen of APC in the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, have passed a vote of confidence on the Governor Mai Mala Buni-led committee.

The state chairmen passed the vote at a meeting of APC State Chairmen with the national caretaker committee held Wednesday at the NEC hall of the national secretariat of the party in Abuja.

The motion for the vote of confidence was moved by Hon. Ali Bukar Dalori, who doubles as APC’s Chairman in Borno State and Chairman, Forum of APC Chairmen in Nigeria and was seconded by Abba Yaro, Chairman of the APC in Benue state.

Nigerian Pilot had earlier reported that some concerned members of APC had on Monday handed the governor Mai Mala Buni-led caretaker committee a 14-day ultimatum to roll out plan of action/timetable for the party’s December elective convention, or face mass demonstration of party members nationwide.

The group also demanded that a time table leading to a hitch free convention be released within the next 14 days while also asking that the Caretaker Committee halt the proposed  registration of fresh members and allow the next  National Working Committee members to carry out such assignments.

But in a swift reaction, APC spokesman, Yekini Nabena stated that the group did not have the right to issue ultimatum, adding that there was no need of giving ultimatum.

“If they have any option or solution to fast track whatsoever their demand is, let them come to the Secretariat and out in their paper so that we can listen to them,” he said.

Nigerian Pilot gathered that this meeting was quickly called to douse the tension generated by the ultimatum issued by the group as reports continued to make rounds about a sinister plan to extend the 6-month tenure of the caretaker committee.

Sources close to the party further told Nigerian Pilot that the caretaker committee will be meeting with non National Working Committee, NWC, and members of the National Executive Committee, NEC, on Thursday.

According to the source, this latest meetings are not unconnected with the alleged plot to gather support for tenure elongation for the Buni-led committee.
