Extraordinary Unemployed Youth Summit, EXUYS 2016, has disclosed its readiness to train 2,000 Nigerian youths on entrepreneurial skills and to help them acquire the required fund to start their own businesses.
In a press conference held in Abuja to unveil the project, the group said that youth unemployment and underemployment rate in Nigeria had reached an alarming level and required a comprehensive approach with the participation of government and organised private sector to address the challenge.
The event, which will take place in March this year, according to the project director, Mr. Blessing Oyefeso, will have 2,000 youths delegates connected to live financing opportunities and platforms to execute their entrepreneurship dreams.
“It is our pleasure to bring to public notice our forthcoming summit tagged ‘Extraordinary Unemployed Youth Summit 2016’ under the theme exploring alternative roadmap to youth inclusion in the nation’s economic growth. The broad objective of the summit amongst others is to create a platform for unemployed youths to interface with stakeholders in the fight for an unemployment-free Nigeria.”
He added that the Extraordinary Unemployed Youth Summit, EXUYS 2016, is a three-day event that would convene together state and non-state actors to a common table to discuss the challenge at hand, which is unemployment and how to tackle it.
“EXUYS 2016 shall bring together over 2,000 unemployed youths delegate, over 200 speakers/experts from cross-sectoral industries include power, information communication technology, agriculture, transportation, international trade, commerce, plus over 50 exhibitors from government and corporate establishments showcasing products and services crucial to the problem at hand, making the event the first of such with the riches content,” he said.
The organisers of the summit are optimistic that the project would proffer a lasting solution to unemployment in Nigeria as they had learnt from the challenges faced by other programmes set-up by governments.
