UNITED Nations Children Fund, UNICEF has expressed concern on the resistance of parents in Katsina state to allow their children for immunization against polio. An official of UNICEF, Katsiona filed officer Nura Dalhat, revelaed this at a meeting in preparation of polio immunization expected to kick off this week. Dalhat sid UNICEF was worried on compliance on part of parents in five local government areas of the state. He said there was resistance in Mani, Funtua, Jibia, Katsina and Daura during the last immunization exercise. He explained that to address the problem, UNICEF decided to hold a town hall meeting to be attended by stakeholders at the affected five local government areas. Dalhat said the meeting would sensitize parents on the need to allow their parents to be immunised against polio. He commended practicing journalists in the state for supporting activities of UNICEF and appealed to them to assist for the success of the forthcoming polio immunization.
