Nsukka indigenes under the aegis of Adada Progressive Union, have expressed confidence on Enugu State Governor-elect, Honourable Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, describing him as a hard working person who will no doubt replicate his experience and achievements in the House of Representatives in transforming the state.
They enJoined well-meaning indigenes of Enugu State to congratulate the Governor-elect on his recent victory at the just concluded general elections.
In a statement made available to Nigerian Pilot in Abuja, the group also congratulated Honourable Ugwuanyi, who is Chairman, House Committee on Maritime Authority, on his recent victory during the governorship election in the state.
The group lamented that the zone is richly blessed and wondered why it is still lagging behind in terms of development, adding that the area is faced with the challenges of maternal and child mortality, bad road network and lack of portable drinking water, among others.
Expressing optimism of witnessing a developed community in the near future, the president of the association, Evangelist Ben Ugwu, stressed the need for people of the area to redouble their effort in making the lofty dream of the union a success story.
“We must not wait for the government to do it for us; we Adada people should find the means to harness our resources to address these issues so as to give the people a sigh of relief. We are not trying to separate ourselves from the state government”, Mr. Ugwu disclosed.
On her own, the secretary of the association, Mrs. Florence Onuorah, debunked the rumours making the rounds that the association is political, adding that Adada Progressive Union was borne out of necessity, to press home the need to raise the standard of living of her indigenes and equally giving them a sense of belonging.
