As controversy still rages on
over the inability of Osun State
governor, Rauf Aregbesola to
pay salaries and pension for
workers and retiree respectively
for about eight months, a
human rights group, the Centre
for Human Rights and Social
Justice, CHRSJ, has passed a
vote of no confidence on the
governor, urging him to resign
The group also described
Aregbesola as a “clueless
governor” who could not
judiciously rule the State again
and insisted that the governor
was economical with the truth
on the financial status of the
State in the past four years.
Reacting to the outburst
of the State governor in the
media titled:”Osun Crisis
Beyond My Control”, through
a statement issued by the
Executive Chairman of the
Centre, Comrade Adeniyi, Alimi
Sulaiman, which a copy was
made available to newsmen
on Saturday, maintained that
Aregbesola should not waste the
precious time of the good people
of the state over his clueless
second term administration,
by immediately resigning his
position as governor of Osun
He insisted that Governor
Aregbesola has been lying to
the people of the State about
the allocations that accrued
to the state since 2010 when
he assumed office, asking
rhetorically on “how Aregbesola
spent the resources of the state’,
saying that lack of proper
planning and unacceptability
of advices from well meaning
Osun people on how the
State should be governed by
Aregbesola, were the bane of the
present predicament of the State.
Comrade Sulaiman therefore
urged former Aregbesola’s
cabinet members to call
themselves together and fine
tune the strategy to help their
former boss out of the present
Centre for Human Rights and
Social Justice boss disclosed that
Aregbesola put the State into its
present financial mess as a result
of his inability to plan for the dry
season, quoting Aregbesola’s
position in the media sometimes
ago, when he opined that he
would not wait for federal
allocation to pay its workforce
and any state that was waiting
for the federal allocation to pay
its workers is doomed.
According to him, “Mr
Rauf Adesoji Aregbesola has
failed the people of the State
with the misappropriation of
the allocations that accrued
to the state from the federal
government and now shifting
blame on the third force as bane
of his present problems but
the only solution for Governor Aregbesola now, is to tender
his resignation letter without
further delaying so as to end his
clueless government in the State.
“The present government of
Osun State under Aregbesola
has lost focus and direction and
we hereby publicly demand
the income and expenditure
with regards to IGR and all the
abandoned projects of the State
since December 2010.
“There is need for Aregbesola
to stop fooling people of the
State with untenable excuses
as Aregbesola did not promise
failure during his electioneering
campaign for second term.
We want to use this medium
to urge President Muhammadu
Buhari to intervene in this matter
before it will go out of hands’.
