US popular and controversial presidential aspirant, Donald Trump has dropped another bomb shell on his teeming supporters and audience, as he calls for illegalisation of abortion in America and “some form of punishment” for women who undergo the procedure.
Trump made this call on Wednesday in Wisconsin during an interview with Chris Matthew of the MSNBC.
He said that abortion should be outlawed in the US and that there should be some form of punishment for women who undergo the procedure under the hypothetical ban.
Trump repeatedly said he was “pro-life,” and when pressed to describe how he thinks a potential abortion ban should be legally enforced, he said the “answer is that there has to be some form of punishment, yeah.”
The GOP front-runner added that he has “not determined what the punishment would be” and noted that he does “take positions on everything else but this is a very complicated position.”
Trump, who has been critised in recent months on this position for his self-described “evolution” on abortion, maintained that abortion must be banned. “You have to ban abortion,” he told the audience.
It would be recalled that in 1999 during an interview, the presidential candidate had described himself as “very pro-choice,” although he said he hated the concept of abortion.
