Plateau North chapter of the Tarok people of Plateau State yesterday presented a protest letter condemning the alleged extra judicial killing of innocent civilians in Wase Local Government of the state by military personal.
It also stressed the urgent need for the lawmakers to step up efforts to probe the wanton killings.
Consoling with them yesterday, the Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Titus Alams also condemned the killings of innocent people saying the state assembly will work with the National Assembly to ensure that the perpetrators are brought to book.
He lamented that major tribes in the state are under attack on the Plateau, which portends danger for all tribes in the long run.
Alams assured that the assembly would take a critical look at the complaints and direct appropriate action to be taken against the perpetrators.
Also addressing the people, the Chairman Ngwan Ishi Otarok Northern zone, Mr. Nagor Ndam pledged the support of the Plateau State House of Assembly members to end extra judicial killings.
Nagor while presenting the complaint to the Rt. Hon. Alams said that this conspiracy has manifested in to killing of unarmed civilians.
Member representing Wase, Hon. Daihibu Dauda said for past two to three years the area has been engulfed in crises , the most recent being the killing of people in Kadarko district .
Dauda called on the federal government to embark on a thorough investigation into the matter.
Member representing Langtang South, Joyce Ramnap revealed that military men were responsible for the massacre of women, children and men and destruction of property worth millions of naira.
The Tarok protesters who all dressed in black attires with inscriptions, ‘Soldiers are terrorist and political hired killers’, ‘Is Tarok land Sambisa forest?’, among others.
