Niger state Governor Dr Muazu Babangida Aliyu on Monday took a retrospective look at his almost 8 year rule and concluded that ‘we did our best’ in the service to the people of Niger state.

‘let me restate that you deserve the appreciation of our party for giving us the chance of serving you and oing the job in the last sixteen years however tough’.

‘ I believe we did our best given the circumstances and succeeded in moving Niger state away from where we found it in 1999. In fact you deserve my deepest personal gratitude for giving me the opportunity to win your trust by electing me as a two-term governor since 2007’.

Governor Aliyu’s remarks were contained in a broadcast to the people of the state on Monday during which he congratulated the Governor Elect of the state Alhaji Abubakar Bello of the All Progressive Congress APC who was declared winner earlier Monday morning by the Independent National Electoral Commission.

Abubakar Sani Bello had defeated the Peoples Democratic Party PDP candidate in the election alhaji Umar Mohammed Nasko.

He said the outcome of the election which threw up the APC candidate as his successor come May 29 this year, ‘ demonstrates the entrenchment of democracy in our country in which the people have the ultimate say in determining their leaders’.

Governor Aliyu continued in the broadcast that ‘ I remain grateful to you and assure you that I will continue to give my best in the service of Niger state in whatever capacity I find myself in the future’.
