Executive members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP from nine local government councils in the East Senatorial district of Kogi State has endorsed Governor Idris Wada to run on the party’s platform in the forthcoming governorship election saying, the party failed at the just concluded polls in the last election due to the activities of political prostitutes.
At a press conference in Lokoja on Wednesday, the leader of the group, Hon. Idris Atabor Wada said to revive the party and for it to shine at the next election in the state, the party has to embark on political evangelism.
He said to that effect the party has constituted a 5-member committee for each polling unit in the nine councils in the East Senatorial district of the state, adding that the committee like religious evangelists will embark on house-to- house sensitization to win members back to the party.
“We failed because some of our members were political prostitutes, taking vital information out and revealing our strategies to our opponents,” Atabor said.
He said the party has forgiven those members who made anti-party moves in the last election, saying, they have been forgiven and can return to the party to contribute their own quota for the party to out-shine others at the polls in the next election in the state.
He said looking back at the past three years since Governor Wada assumed office in the state, Kogi East has witnessed unprecedented peace and tranquility, saying, thuggery, armed robbery and communal unrest have been brought to an end during his period, “and as such they will file behind him to clinch the party ticket to run on the PDP platform in the forthcoming governorship election.”
