Governorship candidate of the Labour Party at the last governorship election in Delta state, Chief Great Ogboru has vowed to continue the struggle for the emancipation of the people of Delta state until their freedom is regained.
Ogboru spoke yesterday at the welcome party organized for the newly sworn-in Senator (Barr) Obaisi Ovie Omo-Agege, representing Delta Central Senatorial District.
He said; “When we were doing our campaigns before the election, we said; ‘Freedom comes only by struggle’, therefore we are not going to get our freedom by a platter of gold. That is why we must continuously struggle for the emancipation of the people of Delta state.
“From the struggle to freedom, you now have a Senator representing you in Delta Central and it did not come easy at all. So it is all about struggle and welfare not by killing or fighting; but by intellectual welfare. I am happy that you have gotten someone that will represent the Urhobo nation and residents of Delta Central very well.”
Senator Obaisi Ovie Omo-Agege, thanked the entire Urhobo people for voting him into power and bringing down so many obstacles just to make him the senator, noting that, “This is the end of impunity in Urhobo land and we shall teach PDP in Delta state iron and ball politics; and they will regret should they try anything”.
On the lingering dispute among the executives of Urhobo Progress Union, UPU, the Senator promised to reunite the Urhobo apex body following the legacies of their predecessors like late Mukoro Mowoe and others, noting that the youths, women and elders must take its frightful place in the Federal level.
Omo-Agege further stated that “Chief Great Ogboru and I have put together a component team, including our top Urhobo people overseas to help us deliver on our excellent result because never again will the Urhobos be neglected. Urhobos will key into the main stream politics of Nigeria, joining and supporting President Buhari.”
