ONE time Plateau State Governor
and Chieftain of the Peoples
Democratic Party, PDP, Ambassador
Fidelis Tapgun, yesterday disclosed
that he and his allies openly worked
against the party in the state in the
recent elections.
Tapgun, who stated this
while addressing newsmen at
his residence in Jos, said that “I
contributed to the victory of the All
Progressive Congress, APC’s, win
because I realised that my party was
not serious.”
He however said it is immoral to
see PDP members begin to jump
ship to APC because of PDP’s
failure, predicting that PDP will rebounce
He added that he will remain in
the party to re-build it.
While blaming the failure of the
party on the state Governor, Jonah
Jang, the former Governor said,
“Jang contributed immensely to the
failure of the party in the state, and
Mr. President was an accomplice of
Jang’s wrong deeds.
“Everything Jang did in Plateau
was in connivance with President
Jonathan; so the votes against
President Jonathan in the state were
a transferred anger from Jang to Mr.
“You can imagine that Mr.
President that polled over 1.2
million votes in 2011 now got as low
at about 500 votes. The people were
angry with Jang and by extension
with Mr. President.
