Former Minister of Interior, Comrade Abba Moro, has affirmed the integrity of the victory of former Senate President David Mark in the recent rerun in Benue South, stating that the senator is ready to meet his opponent at the tribunal.
It would be recalled that Mark whose election was voided by the Court of Appeal sitting in Makurdi thrashed his opponent, Daniel Onjeh with a difference of over 12,000 votes.
Comrade Moro while fielding questions from journalists at Idekpa in Ohimini Local Government Area yesterday said the tribunal was not anybody’s farm and expressed confidence in the Nigerian judiciary which he said had built for itself a high level of integrity over the years.
After victory, it was logical for Mark to personally go round, “not to appear to take the people for granted but to personally go round and thank them for voting for him.”
The former minister expressed gratitude on the initiative of Idoma people, particularly the youths who he said took the election of the former Senate president as their fight.
“Of course, this rerun election has demonstrated to the world that the Idoma people are united and when they want to fight a cause they fight with all their might.”
