HOUSE of Representatives
has said it was under immense
pressure to pass the 2018
budget in record time.
Chairman, Media and
Publicity Committee, Abdul
Rasak Namdas stated at
the weekly media briefing
that there was pressure on
members from Nigerians to
get the budget passed and that
the lawmakers were working
effortlessly to meet this
aspiration.
He said that part of the
programme was to first and
foremost pass the MTEF next
week Tuesday while members
would also conclude debate
on the general principles of the
appropriation bill.
“There is pressure on us and
giving members commitment,
they will work on it,” he said.
The House spokesman noted
that they were not testing as the
lawmakers were committed to
passing a good budget for the
country.
He said the members will
immediately begin a two week
oversight of MDAs to access the
level of implementation of the
2007 budget, a development
that will inform how to engage
the MDAs during budget
defence.
