A frontline gubernatorial aspirant jostling to pick the ticket of his party, the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the forthcoming for the forthcoming governorship election in Kogi state, retired Air Vice Marshal Salihu Atawodi said previous administrations in the state, particularly since 2003 plunged the state into darkness, saying, he has what it takes to pull the state out of its present predicament.
A chieftain of the APC who has been on campaign tour of the state said this at Kotonkarefi, the headquarters of Kogi local government area of the state on Sunday while addressing party members.
He said there was no better time than now for the people of the state to elect the right person with the necessary discipline to lead the state to join comity of great states in the country.
“Let the truth be told, at this point that we are set to decide the fate of the people of the state via the November 21 election. We cannot continue to sacrifice merits for mediocre who have been wasting our scarce resources, that if judiciously used, would have helped the state out of its present poor status, to greatness”, AVM said.
Stressing that he came from a profession, which has discipline as its hallmarks, the retired Air Force officer posited that he remained the best person among the myriads of aspirants jostling to rule the state, if his antecedents and pedigrees in public service is anything to go by.
“It is not all about name dropping, but on what one was able to do for his people during the stint in the public service. I’ve laid my life for this nation called Nigeria in the course of my service to my fatherland. And I am putting my life on line once again for this state called Kogi, because of its sorry sight, occasioned by bad leadership”, he said.
The gubernatorial aspirant has been enjoying rousing welcome by party faithful, leaders and stakeholders since he kick started his campaign. He was at Lokoja on Sunday, after Idah, Omalla, Dekina, Ibaji, Igalamela/Odolu, Bassa and Kotonkarefi.
